  • Administrative Support

    Clerical and Administrative support jobs are located throughout the province and there are future opportunities in a variety of areas.

    Members of this team are responsible for a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks including maintenance of records, preparation of reports and correspondence in a computerized environment and communication with customers.

    Ideal candidate

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Post-secondary business course
    • Previous experience in an office environment
    • Keyboarding skills of 45 wpm

  • Customer Service Support

    Representatives are located throughout the province and perform various functions such as customer account administration, cashiering, collections and general inquiries.

    Members of this team are the primary contact for the general public. They are responsible for responding to customer inquiries, concerns and complaints in a timely and efficient manner. They review, analyze and process various reports and assist in administration duties.

    Ideal candidate

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Keyboarding/typing speed of 45 wpm
    • 2 years administrative experience in customer service work involving the answer and processing of external customer inquiries, utilizing procedures and systems of similar complexity to SaskPower customer services systems
      • OR successful completion of the Office Education Program
      • OR a certificate or diploma in business administration or an equivalent program from a recognized institution

  • Labourer

    Labourers are located throughout the province and perform a variety of assignments.

    Utility Worker (Labourer) — Power Production

    Members of this team may be assigned to temporary vacancies, such as operating plant and line equipment, or performing construction and maintenance activities. Equipment operators will be required to operate heavy equipment and maintain the appropriate logs and reports related to the operation of equipment.

    Utility Worker (Labourer) — Transmission and Distribution

    Members of this team may be assigned to temporary vacancies, performing construction and maintenance activities of the SaskPower Transmission and Distribution system. This classification may qualify individuals for the SaskPower power line apprenticeship program. Candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Saskatchewan and accept temporary work.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
    • Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence

     

    Meter Reader

    Members of this team will be assigned temporary full- or part-time work until 2020. Activities for this position include reading power and gas meters, recording electrical and gas consumption, completing forms and conducting reports. Candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Saskatchewan and accept temporary work.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
    • Ability to perform physically demanding work
    • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Power Lineperson Apprentice

    The employee in this training classification will obtain an Interprovincial Journeyperson Power Lineperson Certificate upon successful completion of four apprenticeship years in accordance with the required training courses and experience.

    The level of the work performed will increase and the amount of work direction given will decrease as the employee progresses in the training program.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Entrance requirements in accordance with the Provincial Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Standards
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
    • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
    • Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Operators (Class 3 and 4)

    Opportunities exist for Facilities and/or Process Operators. These positions target Power Engineers with their 3rd and 4th class tickets. These positions are located throughout the province and operate on shift work basis.

    Members of this team work under direction to operate plant boilers and associated auxiliaries, and assist in the operation and monitoring of plant turbines, generators and associated auxiliaries to meet generation requirements. They conduct inspections, take corrective action to optimize plant efficiency and maintain shift logs.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Third Class or Fourth Class Power Engineer's Certificate
    • Two years’ experience as a Facilities Operator or equivalent
    • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence
    • Ability to make and implement sound decisions under emergent conditions
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
    • Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others
