Legal
Positions in this area are responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to: providing informal and formal opinion on legal matters, advising management on relevant changes to the law, providing assistance in the creation and application of corporate policies, conducting research, drafting legal documents and performing paralegal work.
Ideal candidate
Legal counsel positions
- A law degree and standing as a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan
- One to three years as a practicing lawyer either in a private or corporate practice
- A background in commercial litigation, collections, land law and/or corporate-commercial transactions would be an asset
- A continuing record of professional development
Paralegal positions
- Fifteen years of related experience with a law firm or corporate law department
- Formal paralegal education or law classes will be considered an asset
- General understanding of the elements and structure of contracts and contract law principles
- General understanding of corporate law as it relates to Saskatchewan business corporations
- A continuing record of professional development
Required skills
- Extensive knowledge of provincial and federal law
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines
- Flexibility to work independently or as part of a team
- Proficiency with computer software
- Attention to accuracy and detail
