Labourers are located throughout the province and perform a variety of assignments.
Labourer—Power Production
Members of this team may be assigned to temporary vacancies, such as operating plant and line equipment, or performing construction and maintenance activities. Equipment operators will be required to operate heavy equipment and maintain the appropriate logs and reports related to the operation of equipment.
Labourer—Transmission and Distribution
Members of this team may be assigned to temporary vacancies, performing construction and maintenance activities of the SaskPower Transmission & Distribution system. This classification may qualify individuals for the SaskPower power line apprenticeship program. Candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Saskatchewan and accept temporary work.
Meter Reader
Members of this team will be assigned temporary full- or part-time work until 2014. Activities for this position include reading power and gas meters, recording electrical and gas consumption, completing forms and conducting reports. Candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Saskatchewan and accept temporary work.
Ideal candidate
- Grade 10 or equivalent (Power Production)
- Grade 11 or equivalent with a Grade 11 Math & Science class (Transmission and Distribution)
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Meter Reader)
- A valid Class 5 Driver's licence
Required skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Previous experience operating and servicing heavy mobile equipment
- Working knowledge of personal computer and various software applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Working effectively with others
