Power Station Operators (Class 3 and 4)

The entry level positions for Power Station Operators are referred to as Power Engineers Class 3 and 4. These positions are located throughout the province and operate on a shift work basis.

Members of this team work under direction to operate plant boilers and associated auxiliaries, and assist in the operation and monitoring of plant turbines, generators and associated auxiliaries to meet generation requirements. They conduct inspections, take corrective action to optimize plant efficiency and maintain shift logs.

Ideal candidate

  • Grade 12 English A30 & B30, Math B30 & C30 and Physics 30
  • Third-Class Engineer's Certificate
  • Two years operating experience at the Steam Station Utility Operator level or above
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's licence, as required

Required skills

  • Ability to make and implement sound decisions under emergent conditions
  • Working knowledge of personal computer and various software applications
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
