Power Station Operators (Class 1 and 2)

Power Engineer is a nationally recognized occupational title that includes Stationary Engineers, Steam Plant Operators or Steam Engineers but does not include Electrical Engineering or equivalent occupations in this context. Alternate titles for this position would include 1st or 2nd Class Stationary Engineer or 1st or 2nd Class Steam Engineer.

An individual with an Interprovincial 2nd class ticket would be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of plant turbines and boilers and associated auxiliaries to meet plant and system loads.

An individual with an Interprovincial 1st class ticket would be responsible for assigned plant operation to meet plant and system load demands. This responsibility will involve the supervision of plant operating staff.

Potential work locations include our Power Plants located near Estevan, Coronach, and Saskatoon.

Ideal candidate

  • Completion of an approved 2nd and/or 1st Class Power Engineering Course
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's licence, as required

  • Ability to make and implement sound decisions under emergent conditions
  • Working knowledge of personal computer and various software applications
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
