Our Hiring Process

To get the job you want you need the right skills, education and background, as well as the ability to make a positive impression. But most importantly, you need to apply!

You apply for a job

The hiring process begins when you apply for a position. We've made it easy to apply for a job with us:

  1. Apply for current job postings or apply for future possibilities.
  2. Click on a position that interests you
  3. Follow the application instructions

We review all the applications

After the job posting closes, all submitted applications are then reviewed by the SaskPower employees involved in the hiring process. All potential candidates are evaluated based on their skills, education and experience.

Those involved in the hiring process then generate a 'short-list' and contact everyone on the list.

It may take 4-6 weeks after the closing date before you are contacted. Only the candidates that are moving on to the next phase of the hiring process will be contacted.

We interview all the short-list candidates

If you are applying for a current job posting, then you'll be considered for that specific job posting. If you are applying for a future possibility, then your resume will be entered into our database for future consideration when opportunities become available.

We evaluate all the short-list candidates

All candidates are evaluated using the same assessment guide. This allows us to objectively compare all candidates to make sure we get the right person for the right job.

We contact the primary candidate

We still have a few things to determine before we offer the primary candidate the position. We will contact the primary candidate to provide a Criminal Record Check and to verify education credentials.

We make a verbal offer

Once the pre-screening is complete and everything is in order, we make a verbal offer to the primary candidate.

You accept the job!

If you accept the verbal offer, then we send you a letter and contract. You sign it and you're hired!
