Interactive Publishing Specialist - Lindsey

A Canadian Odyssey
When Lindsey Rawlings started at SaskPower as an intern in 2007, she didn't know she'd one day be orchestrating the company's intranet.
She graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2006 with a degree in Media, Information and Technoculture. Less than a year after graduating, she moved to Saskatchewan and soon found work at SaskPower.
From intern to intranet
Initially, her main responsibility as an intern was to learn as much as she could about the company's intranet publishing and design software. Now a permanent employee, her role has expanded to overseeing the SaskPower intranet and training others to use it.
"My boss was really open to giving me new projects," says Rawlings. "She's a young professional herself, so she understands what it's like to come straight out of school, into the working world, and want to be able to develop more skills and get more responsibility in your job."
I recently attended an internationally recognized course in intranet design.
Now, Rawlings' focus is on expanding her skills through the numerous training opportunities SaskPower offers.
"I know a lot more than I did when I first came here," she says. "I recently attended an internationally recognized course in intranet design. There were only around 20 people in the class. It was very hands on, so that was really beneficial."
Why SaskPower?
When asked why others should consider SaskPower as a future employer, Rawlings had a long list.
"Really flexible work hours, great benefits, lots of opportunity for education, potential opportunity for advancement and just a great, sociable work atmosphere. Yeah, I would strongly recommend it," she says with a laugh.
