Industry Awards Programs

Supporting brighter futures

Awards description:

  • There are two award categories: Entrance, for students entering first-year studies, and Continuing, for students entering second-year studies and beyond.
  • Up to 15 awards of $3,000 each will be presented each academic year.
  • Recipients will have the opportunity to participate in a development work term.
  • At least fifty per cent of the total awards granted each year will go to self-identified diversity applicants, as indicated on this awards application.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a SaskPower Post-secondary Award, a student must:

  • Demonstrate strong academic achievement. Applicants must have an academic standing of at least 70 per cent average in their last completed year of study.
  • Be enrolled in a full-time certificate, diploma or degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan in the following electrical industry-related programs: business administration, management studies, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial systems engineering, electronic systems engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, power engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, civil engineering technology, instrumentation engineering technology, chemical technology, or chemistry.
  • Be a Saskatchewan resident. You are considered a Saskatchewan resident if any of the following is true: you have always lived in Saskatchewan; you or your spouse filed a Saskatchewan income tax return for the last tax year; or, your parents filed a Saskatchewan tax return for the last tax year.

Criteria for selection: Award applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Academic achievement,
  • Leadership qualities and balanced lifestyle (i.e. community involvement, participation in extra-curricular activities).
