Living in Saskatchewan

Boys playing football

Here are a few of the reasons we live here and why the province attracts more and more extraordinary people.

Cost of living

Housing costs are lower compared to many cities, and homes are affordable for most families. Vehicle insurance costs are lower and the province has the lowest sales tax compared to other provinces that charges a sales tax.

Commute times

With an average commuting time of 20 minutes, you'll get to and from work quickly and have more time to spend with family, volunteering, or just relaxing.

Health care system

We're the home of Medicare, and health care remains a priority in this province. Residents don't pay any health care premiums.

Education

We have a renowned K-12 system and excellent post-secondary institutions, including technical colleges and universities. Your child can enjoy being a part of sports teams, drama clubs and music programs.

Spectacular scenery

This is the Land of Living Skies. Take one look at a prairie sunset and you'll know why. The landscape is varied, and includes grasslands, forests, rivers, lakes, a northern desert with giant sand dunes, vast open spaces and incredible plant and animal life.

Vibrant culture

Saskatchewan is home to a rich and talented community of artists, actors, dancers, musicians and so much more. Many celebrate traditions handed down from one generation to the next, providing ample opportunity to experience diverse cultures right here at home.

Getting involved

People helping people has always been a Saskatchewan way of life, so it's no surprise that we're known as the volunteer capital of Canada. Whether helping to host a national event or assisting with a school fundraiser, you'll find rewarding opportunities to get involved in your community and make life-long friends.
