Protecting our children

At SaskPower we take special care to protect the safety and privacy of children. Our website is a general audience site. We do not permit children under the age of 18 to purchase products on our website, nor do we permit anyone under the age of 13 to register with us. We also do not send email correspondence to anyone who tells us that they are under the age of 13.

Children under the age of 13 should always ask their parents or guardians for permission before providing any personal information to anyone online. We urge parents and guardians to participate in their children's online activities and use parental control or other web-filtering technology to supervise their children's access to the internet.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. This data is typically encoded information about how and when you use a site. You can set your browser to notify you when you are sent a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether or not to accept it.

There are two types of cookies:

  • Session cookies are used only for the length of time you stay on the website. When you leave the website, they expire and are no longer active.
  • Persistent cookies are more permanent and can be re-read when you return to the website that placed them on your computer.

We use session cookies to enable us to better serve you when you visit saskpower.com. For example, we use session cookies when you are logged in to MyPower Account to identify you as you move through the application.

We use persistent cookies from time to time to prevent one-time events from occurring during subsequent user visits. This often applies to message or survey pop-ups.

We may also use cookies for internal web reporting and statistics. This information would be gathered at an aggregate level and no individual user or computer would be identified. We may also use cookies for site personalization and marketing (by allowing us to recommend products that may be of interest to you). If we do plan to use cookies for site personalization and marketing, we will post appropriate notification information on this page.

Except as outlined above, we do not and will not use cookies to retrieve data from your hard drive (including email address information or other personal information).

You can choose not to accept cookies. You may do this by setting your browser options to inform you when cookies are being sent. Alternately, you can set these options to deny cookies altogether. Please note, however, that by not accepting cookies you may limit the functionality that we can provide to you when you visit our website.

Security

We use encryption and authentication tools to protect the security of the personal information that you share with us. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100 per cent secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or from our website, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we will do our best to protect its security on our systems.

We urge you to keep your password in a safe place and not to divulge it to anyone. Remember to sign off and close your browser window when you have finished your visit. This is to ensure that others cannot access your account, especially if you are sharing a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place such as a library or internet cafe.

Links to other sites

Our website may contain links to websites operated and maintained by third parties, over which we have no control. Privacy policies on such linked sites may be different from our privacy policy. You access such linked sites at your own risk. You should always read the privacy policy of a linked site before disclosing any personal information on the site.

Policy changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy in whole or in part, we will inform you by posting a notice on our website. Changes will go into effect on the date posted in the notice. The new policy will apply to all current and past users of our website and will replace any prior policies that are inconsistent.
