Climate change is one of the most challenging and important environmental issues facing the world today. At SaskPower, we're taking a leading role in reducing the environmental impact of electricity production. Our actions will benefit today ’s generation and generations to come.
SaskPower and climate change
SaskPower has initiated early actions though the development of our Green
Power Portfolio.
This strategy will meet Saskatchewan's new electricity
needs until 2010 through the use of environmentally friendly sources without
creating new greenhouse gas emissions.
In the longer term, we are leading the world in research into near-zero
emissions
clean
coal technology – a technology which would remove over 90
per cent of
carbon dioxide (CO2) from the gases emitted.
At SaskPower, we know that the choices we make today will reach far into
the future.
We are busy exploring all options and ideas that are reliable, fiscally
responsible and environmentally sound. We have many avenues of innovation
to take, and we will consider all of them. We will continue do our part
to power a cleaner world.
