Wind power is an important part of SaskPower's plans to help meet the province's growing energy needs while minimizing our impact on the environment.
Saskatchewan’s wind power generation capacity is 172 megawatts (MW), approximately five per cent of total generation, which is currently the highest in Canada.
SaskPower International’s new Centennial Wind Power Facility began commercial operations in March 2006 and was the largest wind power development at the time. It is currently the second largest in Canada, generating 150 MW of emissions-free power.
SaskPower’s Cypress Wind Power Facility generates 11 MW of emissions-free power.
We also purchase electricity from the SunBridge Wind Power Project, which is an 11-MW, 17-turbine wind facility built, owned and operated by Suncor and Enbridge.
