Peaking Stations

The province’s four natural gas-fuelled power stations operate at times of peak system demand when Saskatchewan's electricity demands are at their highest. This usually occurs during the winter months on the coldest days and during the hottest days of summer.

Operated remotely from the provincial Grid Control Centre, the stations’ gas turbines can be started up and shut down quickly as needed.
