SaskPower invites developers to participate in study on regional diversity of wind

SaskPower is conducting a study on the regional diversity of wind in Saskatchewan and would like to invite wind developers to participate. The study is being conducted to determine the benefit of building future wind facilities in geographically diverse locations around the province.

In order to maximize the number of data sources and ensure industry-wide input, all developers with experience in wind monitoring in Saskatchewan are encouraged to share their historic wind data with Genivar (formerly Phoenix Engineering Ltd. of Calgary), SaskPower’s consultants on the project. A Saskatchewan wind power profile will be developed from the data. To ensure the confidentiality of all participants, confidentiality agreements will be signed by all parties. SaskPower will share the results of the study with all participants without revealing commercially sensitive or confidential information.

SaskPower is currently studying many aspects of wind generation in Saskatchewan to develop a wind deployment strategy that will be released in 2009.

Open House

SaskPower and Genivar will be hosting an open house on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 to provide more information on the study and address any questions or concerns.
