The Saskatchewan Environmental Assessment and Review process
SaskPower will submit an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to Saskatchewan Environment as required under the Environmental Assessment Act. The Environmental Impact Assessment will be conducted in conformance with Project Specific Guidelines prepared by Saskatchewan Environment.
SaskPower began the process of public consultation by meeting with local town, rural municipality and City of Moose Jaw officials from June 5 – 14, 2007.
Public open house meetings were then held at the following locations:
Coronach on June 18, 2007 at the Elks Community Hall
Willow Bunch on June 19, 2007 at the Senior’s Centre
Bengough on June 20, 2007 at the Community Centre
Moose Jaw on June 21, 2007 at the Sportsman’s Centre
A second series of stakeholder was held from February 27 - 28, 2008 after the preferred corridor was selected. This provided an opportunity for affected stakeholders to learn more about the project and provide comments to the project team. This valuable input will be reviewed as the Environmental Impact Statement is prepared.
Once SaskPower has submitted an Environmental Impact Statement for this project to Saskatchewan Environment, the document and its technical review comments will be made available publicly for review.
