Design
Double circuit H-frame tubular steel structures (T72/001) will be used where there is an opportunity to double circuit existing 72kV or 138kV transmission lines that are currently located in cultivation. Average spans will be approximately 245 metres. Single circuit H-frame tubular structures (T73/001) will be used for the rest of the line. Average spans will be approximately 315 metres.
As this is a 230kV transmission line, a minimum of 7.9 metres clearance between the conductors and farmland is provided. A minimum of 8.6 metres clearance is provided over highways and municipal roads.
The standard right-of-way width for 230kV construction is 32 metres for a double circuit transmission line and 38 metres for a single circuit transmission line.
