Keep yourself safe while attending to those who need your help in emergency situations that involve electricity.

Guidelines for emergency personnel

When you arrive at a scene that involves fallen power lines:

  1. Park at least 10 metres away from any fallen power lines
  2. Assess the situation before getting out of your vehicle
  3. Locate the ends of all fallen power lines and assume they are energized
  4. Call 310-2220 (toll free) to report the situation
  5. Ensure any onlookers stay at least 10 metres away from the fallen power lines
  6. Wait for SaskPower to arrive if people are trapped or injured near fallen power lines

In conjunction with the Canadian Electricity Association, we are pleased to offer a video about first responder safety titled Electricity - The Invisible Killer. This video is a must-see for all first responders and contains life-saving information.
