Stay safe on the job site
Follow these five safety rules when working near power lines:
- Train your people. Talk to them about staying safe around power lines – whether overhead or buried underground
- Look up and live. Always check overhead for power lines before any work begins. Contact us to find out safe distances for work near power lines.
- Have underground lines marked in advance. Call 1-866-828-4888 or visit Sask 1st Call to submit your request (please allow two full working days' notice)
- Use a safety spotter. Always have a lookout watching over the job site from a safe distance to monitor potential issues between your equipment and nearby power lines.
- If you contact a power line while operating equipment, stay where you are. Call us immediately at 310-2220. Keep others at least 10 metres away
