Electrical installations and permits

A permit is required for every new electrical installation, or if you're planning on making changes to existing wiring or electrical equipment.

A permit is not required if there are no changes to the actual wiring, electrical equipment or electrical boxes.

For information on new electrical service connections, visit our new service connects page.

Hire a contractor

When you hire a contractor, the contractor is responsible for obtaining the necessary permits.

Hiring a Saskatchewan licenced electrical contractor ensures the installation will be done in accordance with applicable safety codes and regulations.

For more information, contact your nearest gas and electrical inspections office or email .

Electrical inspections

Our permit and inspection system supports the safe use of electrical and gas equipment by customers and licenced contractors. An inspector reviews every installation described on a permit and may conduct an inspection.
