Keeping our meter readers safe — you can help!

Our meter readers' job is to collect current and accurate readings from both your power and natural gas meters so that your bill is also current and accurate.

Sometimes, though, safety issues get in the way. Ensure your yard is safe for meter readers to visit:

Down! Rover

Keep pets detained while the meter is being read. Even the most gentle pets can become aggressive when they feel they are protecting their owner. Remove your pet from the working area completely by bringing them inside while we’re in your yard, or by securing them in another room with a closed door while we’re in your house.

If you have a new pet, please let us know. Our meter readers keep track of this information.

Clear the way

Keep sidewalks and areas around your power and gas meters clear of obstructions like snow, bikes, lawnmowers, ladders or tools. In the winter, be sure to use sand on ice and slippery spots and remove icicles from overhead. Make sure all gates, sidewalks, and pathways to your meter are free from ice and snow.

Thanks for your help! Together, we’re making safety part of everything we do.
