Guidelines for emergency personnel

Keep yourself safe while attending to those who need your help in emergency situations that involve electricity.

Six steps to follow when you arrive at a scene that involves fallen power lines:

  1. Park far enough away from fallen wires.
  2. Assess the situation before getting out of your vehicle.
  3. Locate all wire ends and assume that they’re live.
  4. Call SaskPower (310-2220) to report the problem.
  5. Supervise any public and keep them away from the scene.
  6. Wait for SaskPower personnel to arrive before tending to any injured people who are near fallen power lines.
