Program Offer 1
To be able to participate in this option customers must be able to meet the main program criteria listed in the charts below. In addition, SaskPower evaluates each customer's potential on a case-by-case basis.
| Component | Program Offer 1 |
|---|---|
| Event Notification Period | 12 minutes |
| Hours per Event | 4 hours |
| Maximum number of events / year | 15 |
| Maximum hours / year | 60 |
| Fixed payment ($ / MW-year) | $52,000 |
| Variable payment ($ / MWh curtailed) | NA |
| Penalties for non-delivery | Yes |
| Contract length | 1 year |
| Program capacity target (MW) | 85 |
| Minimum customer contribution (MW)* | 5 |
Event Notification Period is the amount of time the customer has to reduce their electricity consumption to contracted values when SaskPower notifies them of a Demand Response Event.
Hours per Event is the length of time the customer will be required to reduce their electricity consumption each time SaskPower notifies the customer of a Demand Response Event.
For example, if SaskPower called an event at 2:48 p.m. the customer would have 12 minutes to reduce their electricity consumption to below agreed upon levels and be required to maintain that reduction from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Fixed and Variable Payment is the financial compensation SaskPower will pay for the demand response service provided by customers. For example, if a customer provides SaskPower with 10 megawatts (MW) of demand response they will receive 10 MW x $52,000 = $520,000 per year for participating in the Option 1 program. Demand Response Option 1 does not provide a variable energy payment for each demand response event.
Program Capacity Target is the total MWs being targeted for participation in 2011 for all customers.
Program Offer 2
This program provides for a longer notification period of two hours and includes variable payment and fixed payment options, where the fixed payment is at a lower rate than Program Offer 1 (see table below). There is minimum demand availability and SaskPower will evaluate customers' eligibility for this program on a case-by-case basis.

| Fixed payment ($ / MW-year) | $20,000 |
| Variable payment ($ / MWh curtailed) | $150 |
| Penalties for non-delivery | Yes |

| Program capacity target (MW) | 85 |

Event Notification Period is the amount of time the customer has to reduce their electricity consumption to contracted values when SaskPower notifies them of a Demand Response Event.
Hours per Eventis the length of time the customer will be required to reduce their electricity consumption each time SaskPower notifies the customer of a Demand Response Event.
For example, if SaskPower called a Demand Response Event at 3 p.m. the customer would have two hours to reduce their electricity demand and be required to maintain that load reduction from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Fixed and Variable Payment is the financial compensation SaskPower will pay for the demand response service provided by the customers. For example, if a company provides SaskPower 10 MW of demand response it could receive up to $20,000 x 10 = $200,000 each year plus a variable payment of $150 per MWh delivered when it is called upon for demand responses. Depending on SaskPower system requirements, the number of events called and the way the customer's system is operated, payments could total as much as $290,000 per year.
Program Capacity Target is the total MWs being targeted for participation in 2011 for all customers.
The terms of the SaskPower Demand Response Program are subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of SaskPower.
*The minimum customer contribution represents the minimum average monthly contribution from a single metering location a customer is required to contribute, in order to be eligible to participate.
