Energy Efficient Rebate for New Homes

The Energy Efficient Rebate for New Homes Program, administered by SaskEnergy and supported by SaskPower, provides incentives to Saskatchewan residents who purchase or build a newly constructed energy-efficient home after April 1, 2007 that is either ENERGY STAR® qualified, R-2000 certified or has an EnerGuide for New Homes rating of 80 or above.

Featured savings to program participants include:

  • $1,000 for the purchase of a new home that is ENERGY STAR qualified, R-2000 certified or has an EnerGuide for News Home rating of 80 or above
  • $1,000 for the installation of a solar domestic hot water heating system that meets CAN/CSA Standards
  • $150 for the installation of a Drain-Water Heat Recovery (DWHR) system that is at least 30 per cent efficient and three-quarters (3/4) of a metre in length
  • $100 for installing one qualifying natural gas appliance or $250 for installing two or more qualifying natural gas appliances.

Geothermal rebate

Eligible customers can receive up to a $3,500 rebate for the installation of a CAN/CSA-C448 compliant geothermal system when purchasing a new energy efficient home.

In order to qualify for the geothermal rebate:

  • Geothermal system must be CAN/CSA-C448 compliant
  • New home must be either R-2000 certified or rated 80 or above by the Energuide for New Homes

This rebate is retroactive for customers who have taken legal possession of their homes on or after January 1, 2008.
