2007 Energy and Our Environment ecoClips Video Challenge
Article by: Greenhouse staff - June 12, 2007
The ecoClips Video Challenge encourages Saskatchewan high school students to think seriously about energy consumption. In response to this challenge, students express their environmental messages by combining the disciplines of video technology, dramatic arts and environmental science.
Two pilot years, the first with the Estevan Comprehensive High School in 2005 and then Southeast Cornerstone School Division in 2006, delighted us with many quality submissions.
Students demonstrated a very good understanding of environmental issues, along with a keen enthusiasm in exploring and developing environmentally positive options which are currently not available to them. We’re pleased that youth are thinking about solutions to a challenge that affects us all!
We want to congratulate the 2006 Grand Prize Winners: Tyson King, Megan Smeltzer, and Logan McClement of Estevan Comprehensive School. For their efforts, the winning trio all received video iPods. Great job, guys!
Building on the success of the pilots and the Energy and Our Environment poster contest, we hope to make a future announcement that will expand the ecoClips Video Challenge in 2008. Please stay tuned for updates!
