We reduce emissions created by power production by adding renewable energy sources to the power supply mix. We also monitor emissions-related regulations at the provincial, federal, North American and international levels, to ensure we can comply with regulations now and in the future.
- Air Quality Management System
We operate within this system to ensure we adhere to industrial emission requirements.
- Carbon dioxide
This is the most prevalent greenhouse gas emission that we mitigate.
- Mercury
Mercury is an emission but we also collect it in other ways.
- Particulates
We use electrostatic precipitators to trap particulate matter.
- Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides
If released into the atmosphere these oxides can lead to acid rain.
Did you know…
The SaskPower Shand Greenhouse grows 500,000 seedlings every year. These trees absorb carbon dioxide, reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air.
