The environmental policy reflects our commitment to comply with existing laws and to work toward continual improvement. It is also the tool used to set objectives and targets, and describes the principles by which we mitigate our impact on the environment
Principles
- Compliance with legislation, regulations and corporate commitments
- Prevention of pollution
- Continual improvement of our environmental performance
In order to attain these principles, we audit our environmental management system against ISO 14001 standards, educate employees and contractors on environmental roles and responsibilities, avoid, reduce or control emissions, manage and conserve waste and communicate with shareholders, employees, contractors, suppliers, customers, regulators and the public at large.
Environmental management system
The environmental management system is an integral part of our commitment to minimize environmental impacts as a result of power production. We use it to identify, monitor and manage the impact of power production on air, land and water quality.
Environmental objectives and targets
We base our environmental objectives and targets on regulatory, technological and financial considerations. Our objectives and targets reflect the views of our customers, Saskatchewan communities, regulators and agencies.
Reporting
We provide information about our environmental objectives and targets through the SaskPower Sustainability Report.
We also provide information for other reports prepared by
- The Canadian Electricity Association
- Statistics Canada
- Environment Canada
- Saskatchewan provincial regulator
