Sustainable Growth

Since 1991, the SaskPower Shand Greenhouse has been using waste heat from the nearby Shand Power Station to grow millions of trees, shrubs and native grasses and forbs. The seedlings are given to the community for use in land reclamation and other environmental planting projects. In 2010, the Greenhouse gave away 593,508 seedlings, which brings the cumulative give-away total since 1991 to 6.8 million.
