Polygeneration is an efficient method to produce electricity:
- A solid or liquid fuel (e.g. petroleum coke) is gasified into a combustible synthetic gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
- This gas is then used to fuel natural gas turbines.
- The waste heat from this process is used to generate additional electricity.
