Improved productivity on the farm
SaskPower is planning to rebuild the existing overhead rural electrical distribution system. During the rebuild, existing overhead lines in agricultural fields will be moved and replaced with lines in road allowances.
The plan is to rebuild the oldest and high-load overhead lines first. While some smaller projects within the program may begin in 2009, large-scale construction is planned for 2010.
The Rural Electrical Distribution Program is different from the Farmyard Line Relocation Program, which helps farmers reduce the risk and inconvenience of working around SaskPower overhead power lines by installing them underground.
Eligibility
There is no need to apply for this program. SaskPower is analyzing the rural electrical distribution system and developing a prioritized list of upgrades to the system.
