Environmental, social and financial factors are all part of the sustainability mix at SaskPower.
Environmental sustainability
The best way to balance social, economic and environmental imperatives is to gain a deeper understanding of the landscape. To that end, SaskPower utilizes a Geographic Information System that includes species at risk, protected lands and other vital information. This system is a great step forward in environmental stewardship and financial sustainability. It ensures that the needs of the environment, customers, SaskPower and the province are balanced appropriately.
Social sustainability
Diversity is critical for social sustainability. To ensure that the workforce is representative of the province, SaskPower has four affinity groups representing Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, women and visible minorities. SaskPower also hosts an annual diversity conference to help engender a culture of inclusion at SaskPower. Social sustainability also includes training and safety, as well as collaboration with our stakeholders, the people of Saskatchewan.
Economic sustainability
SaskPower must weigh environmental and social factors to provide power to the province at a reasonable price to each and every customer. SaskPower must also generate power at a reasonable cost to remain viable into the future.
