Generate Your Own Power

Renewable Energy

At SaskPower, we’re committed to protecting our environment for today and future generations. Part of our plan to power the future includes finding ways to provide renewable power sources — and you can be a part of that. See how.

What if you could generate your own power and get credit for the unused portion from your utility? Our Net Metering and Small Power Producers programs offer you the opportunity to do this through the use of renewable energy technology.

  • Net Metering Program — Residents, farms and businesses can deliver their excess electricity to our electrical grid. A bi-directional meter keeps track of the electricity to and from the grid for billing purposes.

  • Small Power Producers Program — Customers can generate electricity to offset power that would be purchased from SaskPower, or to sell all of the generated power to SaskPower.

There’s a lot of interest in self-generated electricity in Saskatchewan — whether it’s solar, wind or another renewable energy technology. There are many things to consider before choosing self-generation.

The First Nations Power Authority is designed to assist First Nations in advancing power projects to SaskPower.
