The Chinook Power Station Project has been reviewed by both the provincial and federal governments. Environmental screening of the project was conducted by both the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment-Environmental Assessment and Stewardship Branch (MOE) and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) to determine if an environmental assessment (EA) is required.
SaskPower prepared and submitted a Technical Proposal to MOE and a Project Description to the CEAA for environmental screening.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment has determined that the project is a non-development under The Environmental Assessment Act, and therefore does not require an an environmental impact assessment (EIA).
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has decided that a federal environmental assessment is not required for the Chinook Power Station Project pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012).
