Our Health, Safety and Environment Policy reflects our commitment to prevent incidents, injuries and pollution, to meet or exceed legislation and corporate commitments, and to work toward continual improvement. It is also the tool used to set objectives and targets, and describes the principles by which we mitigate our impact on the environment.
Environmental Management System
Electricity powers our way of life — our homes, schools and businesses, but it also has an impact on our environment. It is up to industry, governments, communities and consumers to work together to develop solutions.
The environmental management system is an integral part of our commitment to minimize environmental impacts as a result of power production. We use it to identify, monitor and manage the impact of power production on air, land and water quality.
Environmental objectives and targets
We base our environmental objectives and targets on regulatory, technological and financial considerations. Our objectives and targets reflect the views of our customers, Saskatchewan communities, regulators and agencies.
We continually conduct internal screenings of generation, transmission and distribution projects. In cases where environmental or archaeological sensitivities may be impacted due to development, project plans are referred to the Environmental Programs department for further review.
The Canadian Electricity Association Sustainable Electricity Program
We are a member of the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) and actively participate in the Sustainable Electricity program . The program is an industry-wide initiative that addresses the three components of sustainability — environment, society and the economy — and enables the electricity industry to take a holistic approach to managing its impacts.
We’ve made a commitment to continually improve our overall sustainable development performance, and to report to stakeholders in a timely and transparent manner.
