To help mitigate the impact of power generation on the environment, we've invested in renewable energy sources, converted from coal to natural gas in one of our traditional power plants and we work with regulatory bodies and government agencies to ensure we're complying with or exceeding provincial and national emissions guidelines and regulations.
We all have a role to play in protecting the environment
- Environmental policy
The environmental policy directs employees to comply with legislation, prevent pollution and continuously improve our environmental performance.
- Environmental approvals
We seek the appropriate approvals for any work that has impacts to the environment.
- CEA Sustainable Electricity program
This program addresses the environmental, social and economic aspects of the electricity industry.
- Electric and magnetic fields
We design our power lines and facilities to comply with accepted standards.
- Air quality
We recognize the importance of proactively monitoring and managing our emissions.
- Water quality
Our constructed wetland is the only one in North America to supply cooling water to a power station.
- Land quality
We re-use wooden power poles, test for PCBs and use an integrated vegetation management system.
- Stewardship and biodiversity
We are a proud partner in a number of initiatives to protect Saskatchewan's ecosystem and species at risk.
- Waste management
We practice the five Rs of waste management; do you know what they are?
