credit card and bill

If you’re having trouble paying your power bill, there are several options to help. Take a look at them below:

Payment Plan Options

Payment Arrangements

If you're struggling to keep up with your power bills, we offer payment arrangements. We work together to create a plan to pay your outstanding balance over multiple instalments. The best part? These scheduled payments don’t have to be the same amount, giving you some flexibility. After setting up the payment arrangement, you'll need to make each instalment payment each month as well as pay your current bill. This allows you to catch up, while not falling further behind. You can also choose to make one lump sum payment at a later date, instead of dividing it up.

Defer a Payment

A deferred payment may be an option for those with a solid payment history, especially in cases where high bills result from missed or incorrect meter reads. This option allows us to work with you to select a specific date for you to make a single lump sum payment towards the amount owing (i.e. on your next payday). By making this plan with us, you avoid late payment charges. When the deferral period ends, any remaining balance is then carried forward as an amount owing. This must be paid in full.

Equalized Payment Plan (EPP)

Sign up for an Equalized Payment Plan (EPP) to get consistent monthly payments. Your bill will be based on your average power usage from the previous 12 months.

By paying the same amount each month, EPP offers stability and predictability in your budgeting. Note that the difference between the power you actually use and the billed amount is settled up once a year. This is to ensure fairness and accurate billing. We recommend living in your home for at least 1 year before signing up for an EPP.

How to Avoid Power Disconnection

Disconnecting your service is an absolute last resort. This only comes after unsuccessful attempts to set up arrangements to pay outstanding balances. Ensure uninterrupted power service by following these steps:

  • Timely Payment: Pay your bill promptly upon receipt or by the due date mentioned on your bill.
  • Turn on Payment Reminders: Enable bill payment reminders through your MySaskPower account for timely alerts.
  • Proactive Action: If you know you won't be able to pay your bill on time, set up payment arrangements or defer a payment if needed.
  • Respond to Us: Respond to our reminders via phone, mail, or email to prevent disconnection.
  • Report Late Payments: Contact us if you make a late payment to maintain service.
