Our Partners and Work Opportunities

We're committed to working with local and Indigenous companies, contractors and workers throughout Saskatchewan on this project. Since we began building Great Plains Power Station in March 2021, more than 2.5 million work hours have been logged. We share the success of this project with the many skilled workers who’ve joined us on the construction journey.

We’re on track to exceed the local and Indigenous successes from the Chinook Power Station Project.

To date, the Great Plains Project includes over $257 million in participation from local companies and over $48 million in participation from Indigenous-owned companies.

We've had over 600 workers on the site during peak construction times. More than 300 Saskatchewan companies have been part of this build.

Burns & McDonnell is our Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. They’re supported by many local contractors.

Together, SaskPower and Burns & McDonnell strive to provide opportunity to local and Indigenous companies wherever possible. At times, specialized equipment cannot be made in Saskatchewan and have to be procured from out of province. This includes our gas and steam turbines.
