This is the province’s first utility-scale solar generation project. It'll produce 10 megawatts (MW) of power for the province. We expect this to be in service by 2021.
By using solar energy, we’ll bring clean power to about 2,500 homes.
Why we’re doing it
We’ve committed to adding 60 MW of solar power in coming years.
This is one of the ways we can meet Saskatchewan’s growing need for power. And it supports our goals to add more renewable energy to our supply mix.
How we'll build it
Saturn Power won the bid to build this project. They’ll own and manage the site while selling us the power produced.
The project site is in the RM of Coulee. We’ve pre-screened the area for environmental concerns.
We also encourage Saturn Power to work together with the RM throughout this project. This would help them better understand:
- feedback from stakeholders
- impacts of land use
- environmental impacts
