Save at the Till on Select Energy-Efficient Lighting Products

October 04, 2018

Starting today, SaskPower is once again making it easier for customers to improve the energy efficiency in their homes. The Retail Discount Program is on now until October 31.

This year’s program focuses exclusively on energy-efficient lighting products, including LED bulbs, motion sensors, timers, and dimmer switches. Discounts on select items are offered through 17 participating retailers at 190 locations in 113 communities across Saskatchewan. The discount will be applied instantly at the till of any participating retailer.

“Lighting accounts for approximately 17 per cent of your home’s total power consumption,” said Debbie Nielsen, SaskPower Director of Customer Strategy and Programs. “There are significant savings to be had by switching to more energy-efficient lighting technologies, like LED bulbs, which use 80 per cent less electricity than incandescents. I’m glad we’re once again able to help people make that switch and explore other ways to improve the efficiency of their home.”

SaskPower also encourages you to take advantage of the Home Online Energy Assessment Tool available through its website. The tool is offered in partnership with SaskEnergy and allows customers to perform self-assessments of their home and get recommendations on how to reduce their overall energy use.

“Once you have a better sense of how you use power and natural gas in your home, you can really start to be strategic about how to save money and help the environment,” Nielsen said.
