We selected Burns & McDonnell as our engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner to design and build the Aspen Power Station. They’re supported by many local partners. Visit the Burns & McDonnell project website for more information on how to get involved.
Together, SaskPower and Burns & McDonnell strive to provide opportunity to local, Indigenous and women-owned companies wherever possible. We’re very pleased to have already exceeded the levels of participation reached with previous power station builds, including our minimum spend commitments for the Aspen project.
Below are the updated spend commitments to date:
| Suppliers | Minimum Spend Commitment | Committed to Date (as of Sept. 30, 2025) |
|---|---|---|
| Local (Saskatchewan) companies | $364 million | $558 million |
| Indigenous-owned companies | $54.6 million | $263.5 million |
| Women-owned companies | $25 million | $29.5 million |
At times, specialized equipment can't be made in Saskatchewan and has to be procured from out of province. This includes our gas and steam turbines.
