We’re planning to rebuild the power line between the Codette Switching Station, Carrot River Substation and Tobin Lake Substation.
The new 138-kV power line will replace aging infrastructure and help improve reliability for customers in the Nipawin, Carrot River and Tobin Lake areas.
The project includes about 75 kilometres of new power line. Construction is expected to start in fall 2028 and be complete in spring 2030.
Our Progress So Far
We’re in the early planning stage and are gathering feedback from Rightsholders, landowners and other stakeholders.
We’ve identified potential route options for the new line. These options are not final. Feedback gathered during this stage, along with environmental, technical, land-use and cost considerations, will help us identify a preferred route.

Respecting the Local Environment
What we do today impacts our future. We’re always working hard to reduce our impact and protect the environment.
As we plan projects, we use tools like databases, satellite imagery and field surveys to understand the environment we are working in.
As projects move forward, we’ll make sure environmental protection standards are in place to reduce our impact on features like:
- waterbodies
- sensitive lands
- wildlife and their habitats
- heritage resources
We also work with the Ministry of Environment and other regulatory agencies to ensure we meet all environmental requirements.
