We’re connecting a new power line to BHP’s proposed potash mine near Jansen. This will help support growth within Saskatchewan.
Why we're doing it
This power line will give long-term power to the proposed potash mine. We expect this to be up and running by late 2021.
Our progress so far
We spoke to stakeholders and landowners in 2017 about several corridor options. Their feedback has been used to select a preferred option.
Minimizing the impact to you
A preferred corridor was chosen for this project. We're now sharing this with affected landowners. This will help pick the final power line route.
For more details on this project, check out our presentation.
Respecting the local environment
Environmental studies help us avoid areas that could affect:
- wildlife habitat
- sensitive areas
We use the details from these studies to help us select a corridor. On this project, we engaged Ducks Unlimited. They own land in the area that help lower impact to wildlife habitat and migratory birds.
More benefits to your community
Powering the potash mine supports:
- Saskatchewan’s economy
- the surrounding communities
- job opportunities

Keeping you informed
Opportunities for public feedback are now closed. To reduce impact to landowners and farming operations along our corridor, we'll continue to work with:
- rural municipalities
