SaskPower Investing $10 Million in Regina’s Downtown Electrical System
May 20, 2025
SaskPower will invest $10 million this year to upgrade the electrical system and improve reliability in Regina’s central business district.
Crews will replace or remove equipment that has reached the end of its life, including underground cables and duct banks.
“This investment will improve overall reliability in central Regina and accommodate growth,” said Ryan Neufeld, SaskPower Vice-President of Engineering and Construction. “The improvements will reduce the total number of outages and allow us to locate and fix outages more quickly when they do occur using smart technology.”
SaskPower will coordinate much of the work with the City of Regina and other utilities to keep disruptions to a minimum. Any required outages will be communicated in advance on the SaskPower app, website, and through the MySaskPower portal. Road restrictions can be found at regina.ca.
Since 2020, SaskPower has invested nearly $50 million in system improvements in central Regina.
This year’s work will focus on two main areas:
11th Avenue between Lorne Street and Albert Street – April through October
- Installing and connecting new duct banks
- Installing new or replacing 1.65 kilometres of cable
Saskatchewan Drive and Hamilton Street – September through October
- Installing new duct bank
