BD3 Status Update: November 2021

December 17, 2021

Employees working inside the Carbon Capture facility.

During the month of November 2021, the carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at Boundary Dam Power Station captured 27,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide. The average daily capture when CCS was online was 2,610 tonnes per day with a peak one-day capture of 2,921 tonnes. The facility was brought back offline when a CO2 cooler leak on the main compressor reoccurred. SaskPower has made progress in diagnosing the root cause of the issue and expects permanent repairs will be completed before the end of this month.
