We’ve selected Turning Sun Solar (previously named Iyuhána Solar LP) to build the province's first 100-megawatt (MW) facility in the Estevan area. Turning sun is a partnership between Greenwood Sustainable Infrastructure and Ocean Man First Nation. Once complete, the facility will produce power equal to what's needed for an average of 25,000 homes.
Why Solar?
We’re investing in the province’s power system to ensure reliable and affordable power for our customers, while also supporting our growing province. Solar facilities are cost-effective additions to our power supply mix and don’t emit greenhouse gases while generating power.

Our Progress So Far
Turning Sun Solar is the independent power producer (IPP) for this facility. They’ll build, own, maintain and operate the 100 MW solar facility. It’ll be built on SaskPower land about 7 kilometres southwest of Boundary Dam Power Station.
To connect to the power grid, we’re building a new 230-kilovolt power line. The line will be about 5 kilometres long. We've engaged with potentially impacted landowners on the route.
Turning Sun Solar Facility will be the first power generation project to connect to the new Tableland Switching Station we’re building further southwest of Estevan.
Respecting the Local Environment
The IPP will be responsible to engage with the Ministry of Environment and other regulatory agencies to ensure all environmental requirements are being met.
Project Benefits
The Turning Sun Solar Facility project includes 10% Indigenous ownership through the partnership with the Ocean Man First Nation. This is part of our commitment to economic reconciliation. And it provides more opportunity for Indigenous participation in generating power for our province.
Going forward, all future IPP partnerships to include at least 10% Indigenous ownership.
