- Researching your options. There's a lot of good information online that can help you understand if it makes sense for you.
- Figuring out the size and cost of a system. Talk to a few suppliers to get quotes.
- Waiting until the interconnection assessment is finished before committing to your project.
Customers choose to create their own power for many reasons. Whether you’re looking at renewable power for your home, business or farm, cost is a factor.

System Size
Your project can be up to 100 kW (dc). When building your system, think about the right size to match your energy consumption. Credits earned can only be used to offset your energy charge and can't be taken in cash.

You’re responsible for all costs linked to connecting your project to the SaskPower grid. This includes costs starting at $498.75 (GST included) for the bi-directional meter. If you have a larger system, your main power service and/or SaskPower's transformer size may need to increase. You'd be responsible for all these costs. These can cost thousands of dollars. Please wait until the interconnection assessment is finished before committing to your project. |

Price per kWh
Any excess power you provide back onto the power grid is priced at 7.5 cents per kWh until Mar. 31, 2026.
Keep in mind that when you’re using the power your system produces, you’re using it at your standard retail rate (what we typically charge customers for power -- e.g. for residential customers it would be around 14 cents). It’s only when you’re generating extra power beyond what you can use that it’s priced at 7.5 cents.
You can carry forward any unused credits on your bill until you move or close your account. Please note: the credits are non-refundable and will not be paid out.
